BANDIPORA, JUNE 29: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Saturday chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) at the Mini Secretariat here to review the implementation of road safety measures and the status of Action Taken Reports (ATRs) on decisions taken by the Committee.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner, as per an official statement, reviewed the progress made by concerned departments and stressed the need for close inter-departmental coordination and timely implementation of road safety measures. She directed the departments concerned to furnish ATRs within stipulated timelines and ensure effective follow-up of the directions issued by the Committee.

The DC also sought comprehensive details of road safety works undertaken during the financial year 2025-26 and directed the concerned departments to submit projections for proposed works for 2026-27. She emphasized that timely availability of such details would facilitate effective monitoring and implementation of the district’s road safety action plan.

Stressing that road safety requires coordinated efforts by all stakeholders, the Deputy Commissioner called for focused attention towards infrastructure improvement, identification of vulnerable road stretches and timely implementation of preventive measures to enhance road safety and minimize the risk of accidents.

The meeting also reviewed measures for effective implementation of the PM-RAHAT (Prime Minister–Road Accident Victims’ Hospitalisation and Assured Treatment) Scheme, which provides cashless treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh per road accident victim for a maximum period of seven days from the date of the accident. The scheme also provides for stabilisation treatment at designated hospitals for up to 24 hours in non-life-threatening cases and up to 48 hours in life-threatening cases, as per the prescribed guidelines and procedures.

The meeting was attended by the Superintendent Engineer, R&B Circle Bandipora; Additional Superintendent of Police Bandipora; Chief Medical Officer Bandipora; Executive Engineer, PMGSY Division Bandipora; Deputy Superintendent of Police, Traffic Police Bandipora; Assistant Regional Transport Officer Bandipora; and other concerned officers.
