JAMMU, OCTOBER 05: District Legal Services Authority Jammu, under the guidance of Principal District & Sessions Judge / Chairman, DLSA Jammu Tahir Khurshid Raina and under the supervision of Civil Judge (Sr. Division) / Secretary DLSA Maleeka Sharma, Monday organised a Health Check-up Camp for Senior Citizens at Old Age Home Ambphalla in observance of International Day of Older Persons. The Medical camp was hosted in collaboration with the Directorate Health Service Jammu.

On the day, Secretary DLSA Jammu, as per an official statement, visited the Old Age Home and interacted with senior citizens, listened to their health issues, problems and grievances regarding facilities. She also briefed them about their legal rights and right to maintenance. During the visit, Secretary DLSA Jammu also inspected the newly constructed Recovery Ward in the premises of the Old Age Home.

The medical team, deputed by Directorate Health Services Jammu, consisted of Dr. Vanita Kotwal (Ophthalmologist), Dr. Kapil Gupta (MD Physician) and Dr. Anuj Khajuria (MD ENT). The Doctors, along with the School Health Team, conducted detailed check-ups of senior citizens, including blood pressure screening, diabetes test, vision test, ENT examination and screening of other old age related problems. They were also provided free medicines as per their requirement. Of total 46 residents in the Old Age Home, 30 availed the benefit of the health check-up camp.

The Secretary also interacted with the doctors’ team, discussed the health status of the inmates and stressed upon regular health monitoring of senior citizens.
