SAMBA, OCTOBER 8: Deputy Commissioner Samba Ayushi Sudan Thursday inaugurated a mega plantation drive at Mansar Morh, organised by the Municipal Council (MC) Samba in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Forest Department, as part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026.

The plantation drive, as per an official statement, aims to strengthen green cover, promote ecological conservation and enhance the visual and environmental quality of public spaces across the district.

The Deputy Commissioner planted a tree sapling to mark the launch. She appreciated the coordinated efforts of the Municipal Council and Forest Department towards promoting sustainable environmental practices and creating greener public spaces.

Senior officers from the District Administration, Municipal Council and Forest Department along with civic staff, students and volunteers, participated actively in the plantation drive. A variety of native, shade-giving, flowering and fruit-bearing saplings were planted along roadside stretches and available open spaces.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of collective community participation in environmental conservation and called for sustained efforts to protect and nurture the saplings planted under the campaign.
