Udhampur, Oct 14: The Indian Army will organise a two-day mega medical camp at Basantgarh in Udhampur district on October 17 and 18 under Operation Sadbhavana to provide free healthcare and welfare services to residents of remote areas.

A spokesperson said the camp will be held at Government Higher Secondary School, Basantgarh, and the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Basantgarh.

A multidisciplinary team of medical professionals, including surgeons, physicians, orthopaedic specialists, ophthalmologists, ENT specialists and dental professionals, will provide consultations and specialised healthcare services.

He said the facilities will include child healthcare, cardiac screening, respiratory care and diagnostic tests such as complete blood count (CBC), haemoglobin and random blood sugar (RBS), besides prescribed medicines and preventive healthcare guidance.

The spokesperson said Army will also distribute assistive devices, including wheelchairs, crutches, walking sticks, walkers and hearing aids, to eligible beneficiaries based on medical requirements and availability.

The statement said special attention would be given to elderly citizens, women, children, persons with disabilities and economically disadvantaged families.

Dedicated welfare stalls for Veer Naris and ex-servicemen will provide assistance with pensions, documentation, welfare schemes and grievances. A separate youth facilitation stall will offer guidance on Agniveer recruitment, eligibility criteria and selection procedures.

Representatives of J&K Bank and the Agriculture Department will also provide information on banking facilities, government welfare schemes, agriculture, horticulture and livelihood opportunities.

Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh, who represents the Udhampur parliamentary constituency, is scheduled to attend the camp. The initiative aims to strengthen the Army-Awam bond and improve access to healthcare and welfare services in remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir, the statement added. Residents of Basantgarh and adjoining villages have been encouraged to attend the camp on October 17 and 18—(KNO)
