POONCH, OCTOBER 17: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma Saturday chaired a meeting in the Conference Hall, DC Office Complex to review the working of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and Social Welfare Department.

The meeting was attended by District Programme Officer Fareed Ahmed Kohli; District Social Welfare Officer Joginder Mangol; Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) of the six projects—Haveli, Mandi, Surankote, Bufliaz, Mendhar and Balakote—and Tehsil Social Welfare Officers.

At the outset, the District Programme Officer briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the implementation of various ICDS schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Poshan Tracker, Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP), Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), growth monitoring and the Face Recognition System (FRS).

The meeting also reviewed key parameters, including the infrastructure of Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), anaemia screening, payment of honorarium, expenditure under SNP and the human resource position.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to ensure that all complaints related to ICDS services, the functioning of Anganwadi Centres and the Supplementary Nutrition Programme are resolved within seven days.

He also directed the CDPOs to organise regular counselling sessions for mothers and pregnant women to raise awareness about hygiene, maternal nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, institutional deliveries and the importance of regular growth monitoring.

Emphasising transparency and accountability, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for regular field visits by CDPOs and Supervisors to monitor the functioning of Anganwadi Centres and ensure the effective implementation of welfare schemes. He further directed the officers to ensure 100% saturation of all beneficiary-oriented schemes so that eligible beneficiaries receive the intended benefits.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated ICDS Poonch for achieving 100% coverage in Aadhaar seeding and measurement of beneficiaries and urged the officers to maintain the same level of performance and commitment.
