Rivals trying to cast NC as failure: Javed Dar

Baramulla, Oct 21: Jammu and Kashmir minister Javed Dar on Wednesday alleged that certain forces were trying to portray the National Conference (NC) as a failure to strengthen a rival political camp in the Union Territory.

Addressing a gathering in Rafiabad, Dar said the NC’s primary objective was to protect Jammu and Kashmir’s identity and safeguard the rights of its people, asserting that the party’s mission extended beyond routine governance issues.

“Electricity and water are common issues, and every government works on them. But the cause of the National Conference is bigger,” he said.

Dar said the party had faced several challenges since 2019 and had consistently resisted what he described as attempts to undermine Jammu and Kashmir’s identity.

Referring to the 2014 Assembly elections, he alleged that a political strategy set in motion at the time continued through the 2024 elections, with the National Conference as its primary target.

He claimed several forces had come together against the NC during the 2024 polls but failed to defeat its political agenda as people reposed their trust in the party.

Dar further alleged that narratives portraying the NC as a failure were aimed at strengthening another political force in the region.

Urging party workers to remain vigilant, he said the NC had a long history of overcoming challenges while fighting for the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He called on the cadre to remain united and committed to the party’s core principles, asserting that the NC would continue to work towards protecting the identity and rights of the people—(KNO)
