Discussions from Nov 16

Srinagar, Oct 31: J&K Government has initiated the budget formulation process for 2027-28, with discussions on budget proposals scheduled to commence from November 16.

According to an itinerary issued by the department, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), budget discussions on the Revised Estimates (RE) for 2026-27 and Budget Estimates (BE) for 2027-28 will commence on November 16 and continue till December 2.

The Finance Department will hold detailed deliberations with 36 administrative departments as part of the annual budget preparation exercise.

In directions issued to the departments, the Finance Department has asked them to furnish Action Taken Reports (ATRs) on budget announcements, wherever applicable, well before their scheduled discussion dates. They have also been asked to provide complete details relating to establishment budget and Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) requirements.

Besides, all departments have been directed to submit PowerPoint presentations in both hard and soft copies covering sanctioned and in-position staff strength, contractual employees, scheme-wise trends in revenue and capital expenditure, revenue receipts over the last five years, details of major projects, liabilities of ongoing projects and key features of the proposed budget.
