At the outset, Deputy Director MY Bharat Anantnag, Khushal Gupta, in his introductory address, highlighted the objectives of the initiative, emphasising its role in strengthening democratic values, nurturing leadership qualities and encouraging youth participation in the democratic process. He said the platform enables young citizens to develop critical thinking, public speaking and deliberation skills.

Dr. Peerzada Yasir Yousuf briefed the participants about the programme format and guidelines, while Principal GDC Anantnag appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to make effective use of such platforms to enhance their knowledge and leadership abilities.

Addressing the gathering, Mahima Madan appreciated the efforts of MY Bharat Anantnag and GDC Anantnag in providing youth with an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions on issues of national importance. She stressed the need to organise such programmes regularly to promote democratic awareness and leadership among young citizens.

During the Youth Parliament session, participants presented their views and arguments on the theme “One Nation, One Election”, reflecting on its various constitutional, electoral and governance-related dimensions.

A Yuva Samvaad session was also organised, during which Youth Icon Vinod Kumar Pandey delivered an informative presentation on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and “Know Your Vote”, sensitising participants about electoral processes and the importance of informed voter participation.

The programme also featured the administration of the Loktantrik Pledge, reaffirming the participants’ commitment to democratic values and responsible citizenship, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.

Later, the results of the Youth Parliament were announced, and certificates and mementos were distributed among participants in recognition of their participation and contribution.

The programme concluded with a call for greater youth engagement in democratic processes and nation-building.

The meeting was attended ADDC, SDM Pahalgam, Bijbihra, ASP, ACR, ACD, GDC Principals, ACP, CEO, DIO and other officers.
