ANANTNAG, NOVEMBER 17: The Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas-2025 celebrations, held from 01 to 15 November, concluded on Saturday in Anantnag with a district-level valedictory event attended by district officers and sectoral heads, who listened to the livestreaming of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s address from Dediyapada, Gujarat.

Organised by the District Administration under the aegis of Rural Development Department (Nodal Agency), the outreach program witnessed enthusiastic participation from tribal community leaders and members besides other stakeholders across the district.

The celebrations featured a meaningful mix of awareness programmes, cultural activities, educational events and environmental initiatives. The efforts aimed to honour the contributions of tribal freedom fighters while enrolling eligible tribal community members under various government welfare schemes related to health, education and social security.

Joint teams conducted extensive awareness drives in various blocks, enabling many tribal beneficiaries to register on the spot. A notable achievement was the participation of 1309 women, who received direct support and guidance.

Traditional Gujjar-Bakerwal folk dances, cultural attire displays, poetry, storytelling and community performances held at various places brought local heritage to the forefront and provided a vibrant platform for tribal children and youth to showcase their traditions and creativity.

Taking a leading role, Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) Salia organised a wide range of programmes, including painting and essay competitions, quizzes, poem recitations and storytelling sessions on tribal history and freedom fighters, in addition to national anthem singing and sports activities.

Students paid rich tributes to tribal icons, deepening their understanding and pride in national and tribal heritage.

To promote awareness about hygiene and environmental protection, community-led cleanliness and tree plantation drives were held in tribal pockets such as Lehendajan and other areas.
