SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 20: ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (CITH), Srinagar, a renowned institute entrusted for research and development in temperate vegetables by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi organized ‘Leafy Greens Celebration’.
The event was presided over by Chairperson, JK Waqf Board, Dr. Darakshan Andrabi, as chief guest.
The event, organized under the leadership of director CITH, Dr. M. K. Verma showcased the vast germplasm of leafy greens, most notably kale (Kashmiri haak) and highlighted the nutritional, health promoting and therapeutic properties of leafy greens like Kashmiri kale, exotic kales, Indian and exotic spinach, indigenous and exotic cabbages, cauliflowers, broccolis, pakchoi, komatsuna and tatsoi. These crops were exhibited in the institute’s field genebank and attracted great admiration and inquisitiveness from participants.
Dr Darakshan Andrabi hailed the work being done by CITH researchers and urged the farming community to foster a relationship with the institute for strengthening the agricultural sector of Kashmir.
