Jammu, Nov 28: The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Traffic range Jammu, Dr Mohd Haseeb Mughal (IPS) Friday said that the road discipline by commuters and coordination among agencies is the key to better management during winters in the region.

On the occasion, Mughal emphasized that road discipline by commuters and coordination among agencies is the key to better management during winters at Jammu.

DIG Mughal was accompanied by Amit Bhasin-JKPS, SSP Traffic City Jammu, Arvinder Singh Kotwal-JKPS, Addl. SP Traffic City Jammu and Satish Bhardwaj-JKPS, SDPO Bakshi Nagar.

“Several bottlenecks were identified, including improper lane discipline, roadside parking, and heavy traffic pressure at the bridge approach. Taking immediate cognizance, the DIG Traffic issued on-spot directions to streamline traffic flow,” reads the statement.

He empathised upon deployment of additional traffic personnel especially during peak hours, removal of unauthorized parking and roadside obstructions near the bridge and strict enforcement of lane discipline for all types of vehicles.

“Ensuring coordination with District Police, JMC, Transporters and Traders- the stakeholders for signage, surface improvement and maintenance of road edges for better manoeuvrability and regulating the movement of heavy vehicles during peak hours to avoid slowdowns,” he added.

While addressing the media at the DIG said that the local road construction agency has taken over the assignment of construction of damaged portion of the road connecting Tawi bridge and appealed the public for cooperating the traffic and avoiding the road journey via 4th Tawi bridge for next two days, so that the road construction work at 4th Tawi bridge is completed on war-footing—(KNO)
