Girl succumbs after self-immolation bid in Lal Chowk

Srinagar, Dec 01: A young girl who attempted self-immolation at Pratap Park in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk on Saturday succumbed to her injuries at SMHS Hospital on Monday morning, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the girl, in an apparent act of self-harm, had poured an inflammable substance on herself before setting herself ablaze.

Bystanders, shocked by the incident, rushed to her rescue and managed to douse the flames using available means before police and emergency responders arrived at the scene.

He said she succumbed to burn injures two days after, today at hospital and investigation have been taken up, while her identity is being hidden. (KNO)
