IRCS celebrates international volunteer Day-2025

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 05: International Red Cross Society (IRCS) J&K Kashmir celebrated International Volunteer Day at SKUAST-K, Shalimar, Srinagar on Friday.

The Day long function, as per an official statement, was attended by the students, faculty members of SKUAST-K and the Red Cross staff and volunteers.

Speaking during the event, Honorary Treasurer IRCS J&K, G.A. Qureshi spoke about the importance of volunteerism for peace and development. We need volunteers to work together for the common good and contribute in achieving the sustainable Development Goals, he said. He also highlighted the role of Red Cross Volunteers in nation building and in rendering selfless services to the people not only during calamities and emergencies but also in the socio-economic development efforts.

 During the event, it was revealed that the IRCS J&K has conducted 12 Blood Donation camps in which 656 blood points were collected during the period 1st April to 31th October 2025. Besides, 8 First Aid camps were organized covering 600 beneficiaries.

Similarly 10 First Aid Training programmes were also conducted covering 183 beneficiaries during the same period. Besides, Rs 1,29,18,634 were also provided to the needy and deserving persons as Medical and Financial Assistance. Students and faculty members of SKUAST-K, Shalimar also spoke on the occasion.

 A first Aid training program was also conducted to equip students with essential life-saving skills. The resource person, Dr. Shailendra Kaur demonstrated practical techniques for handling emergencies such as bleeding, fracture, burns and unconsciousness.
