Health Department Shopian conducts Hepatitis Screening camp

SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 08: As per the directions of the Mission Director, NHM J&K, a comprehensive community-based screening camp on Hepatitis A, B, C, and E was organised at Herman, District Shopian, under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer Shopian, Dr. Arshid Hussain Tak and BMO Shopian on Monday.

A total of 200 samples, as per an official statement were collected and dispatched to DPHL for triple serology testing.On-spot counselling was provided by the Medical Officer, PHC Herman. A special vaccination drive was also carried out to vaccinate staff members and contacts of Hepatitis B-positive cases.

IEC material was distributed among the community, encouraging people to undergo regular sampling every year for early detection and prevention of hepatitis-related infections.

A detailed awareness session was conducted by the CHO and the Microbiologist, focusing on the causes, transmission routes, symptoms, prevention, and importance of early diagnosis of Hepatitis. The session emphasized the key message: “Know Hepatitis-No Hepatitis.”

ASHA workers and field staff played an important role in close coordination with IDSP staff by ensuring door-to-door mobilisation, awareness, and facilitation of community participation.

The ZMO Hermain and the Nodal Officer NVHCP were also present and successfully conducted the screening activities.
