KUPWARA, DECEMBER 08: Armed Forces Flag Day was observed with patriotic fervour in Kupwara with Deputy Commissioner (DC), Shrikant Suse presiding over a well-organised function at the Zila Sainik Welfare Office (ZSWO) on Monday.
On the occasion, the DC, as per an official statement inaugurated a renovation work funded by the District Administration which was completed recently at ZSWO office.
The event was attended by Zila Sainik Welfare Officer Kupwara, Col Shaieq Shafi Raja (Retd.), Sub Judge ADR Kupwara, Javid Ahmad Parray, officials from various departments, ex-servicemen, and war widows.
Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted the significance of Armed Forces Flag Day. He said that the day serves as a tribute to the supreme sacrifices of the nation’s brave soldiers. He reiterated the district administration’s commitment to extending all possible support for the welfare of ex-servicemen, their families, and dependents.
He also stressed the importance of creating awareness about various government schemes aimed at the upliftment and well-being of retired army personnel.
Lt. Col. (Retd.) S. S. Raja, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the district administration for its continued and unconditional support, particularly for the recently completed renovation of the Sainik Welfare Office building.
On the occasion, a two-minute silence was also observed in honour of the martyrs who have laid down their lives for the sake of nation.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation among distinguished ex-servicemen of the district.
