Srinagar, Oct 06: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma Monday said that the young athletes, participating in 69th National School Games, will give a message of peace from Kashmir to the whole country.

Speaking with reporters, the Minister said that the participants from 30 states and Union Territories are participating in 69th National School Games, which was formally declared open by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today here at TRC Ground.

“It is a proud moment that such an event is taking place in Srinagar. Although the weather conditions are not favourable, the Chief Minister has said that we all stand with the participating children in this condition. We hope that everyone stays well and has memorable moments here,” Sharma said.

Pray for the unity of the country, the Minister congratulated and welcomed the participants.

Replying to a query, the Minister said that there will be such events every month. “Thousands of people will come. The children will give a message of peace that everything is good in Kashmir and the people here are unmatched in their hospitality,” he said.

He added that these children are fighting against drugs and are learning discipline. “We will try to ensure such events every month and as the winter is approaching, we will prepare for the Winter Games as well,” he said—(KNO)
