BUDGAM, DECEMBER19: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam, under the aegis of the J&K Legal Services Authority, convened a review meeting with Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and other functionaries of DLSA and Taluka Legal Services Committees (TLSCs) of District Budgam.
The meeting, held in ADR Centre, was chaired by Secretary, DLSA Budgam, was aimed to review the effectiveness of ongoing legal services programmes, identify challenges in their implementation, strengthen coordination among PLVs, TLSCs, and other stakeholders, and streamline the delivery of legal aid services.
It also provided a platform for sharing feedback and best practices to enhance public awareness and improve access to justice in the district.
While addressing the participants, the Secretary, DLSA Budgam, emphasized the need to strengthen coordination and cooperation among PLVs, officials, and other stakeholders to ensure institutional growth and the welfare of legal aid beneficiaries. She highlighted the crucial role of PLVs in reaching out to marginalized and vulnerable sections of society and encouraged them to conduct door-to-door campaigns, seminars, awareness programmes, and activities through Legal Aid Clinics and Legal Aid Clubs. PLVs were also directed to get details of convicts if any in there areas so that their applications for Premature release, Parole or Furlough could be processed.
She further stressed the importance of spreading awareness about legal rights and duties, various NALSA schemes, the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism, the significance of Lok Adalats, and the welfare schemes of the Government currently underway.
