Gulmarg, Dec 22: The season’s first major snowfall has transformed the famous ski resort of Gulmarg into a pristine winter paradise, rekindling the Valley’s tourism spirit and winning the hearts of visitors from across the country.

Tourists, delighted by the snowfall and Kashmiri hospitality, have called on people nationwide to visit the region and experience its real charm and warmth.

A group of tourists from Assam, who were among the many to witness the first flakes said that they were overwhelmed by the experience. “It’s like heaven here. The beauty, the peace and the warmth of people – everything is beyond imagination. We want everyone to come and see the real Kashmir, not the one shown on social media,” they said, describing the Valley as completely safe and welcoming.

For first-time visitors, the snowfall turned into a memory of a lifetime. “It’s great to be here in Gulmarg. The arrangements, hospitality and security are excellent. People are very caring and respectful; it truly feels like home,” said a tourist from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, who lauded local hoteliers and guides for their courteous service.

Others who revisited the Valley after years said they were amazed by the change in atmosphere. “I came back after two decades, and I’m really impressed. We went to Lal Chowk in Srinagar yesterday; everything was peaceful and vibrant. There’s no fear; only beauty and development,” said another visitor.

Tourism stakeholders, equally relieved by the snowfall, expressed optimism about the season ahead. “We were eagerly waiting for this snow, and Alhamdulillah it’s finally here,” said Tufail Ahmad, a local guide in Gulmarg. “This snow is a blessing. It will give a huge push to the tourism sector and skiing activities. We’re hopeful for more in the coming days.”

It is noteworthy that after several weeks of dry weather, nearly 10 inches of snow blanketed Gulmarg’s meadows overnight, turning it into a picture-perfect destination. The snowfall ended a prolonged dry spell that had raised concern among tourism stakeholders and adventure operators ahead of the winter season—(KNO)
