BUDGAM, DECEMBER 23: District Legal Services Authority, Budgam (DLSA Budgam), under the aegis of the J&K Legal Services Authority and under the chairmanship of O. P. Bhagat, Chairman, DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Budgam  successfully conducted a Training-cum-Awareness Programme on the Legal Services Management System (LSMS) along with a review of Regulation 11 of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).

The programme, as per an official statement, was organised with the objective of reviewing the progress of legal aid cases, monitoring the performance of panel lawyers, and sensitizing all stakeholders on the effective use of the Legal Services Management System (LSMS) to strengthen case management and enhance the delivery of legal aid services.

The programme witnessed active participation from legal professionals, officials and staff of DLSA, panel lawyers and Junior Assistants of TLSCs, who attended the programme virtually.

The technical and theoretical sessions focused on imparting practical training and awareness on LSMS, reviewing existing case management processes, sharing best practices, identifying challenges, and ensuring timely and effective legal assistance to beneficiaries, particularly those belonging to marginalized sections of society.

In her address, the Secretary, DLSA Budgam highlighted the critical need for regular and timely updating of case details on LSMS to enhance transparency, efficiency, and effective oversight. She exhorted panel lawyers to maintain regular communication with their clients, uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality, and adopt a client-centric approach while representing vulnerable groups such as women, children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.

Practical training on the use of LSMS was imparted by the official of DLSA Budgam, who elaborated on the practical aspects of the system. The session was specifically tailored for legal professionals and staff members of DLSA and TLSCs.

The programme also provided an interactive platform for panel lawyers to exchange experiences, discuss challenges faced in the delivery of legal aid, and explore practical solutions for improving outcomes.

The active participation of all stakeholders reflected a strong collective commitment to strengthening the legal aid framework and advancing access to justice in District Budgam.

The programme concluded with a renewed resolve to ensure high-quality, accessible, efficient, and responsive legal aid services through the effective utilization of the Legal Services Management System.
