Srinagar, Dec 24: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday said that nearly 48 percent households in Srinagar enjoy uninterrupted electricity supply following a successful Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) trial with zero power cuts.
Office of the Chief Minister, in a post on X congratulated KPDCL on making another 83 areas in Srinagar 24-hour power zones following a successful RDSS trial with zero power cuts.
“With this, 108 areas in Srinagar now enjoy round-the-clock, uninterrupted electricity supply, benefiting 1.25 lakh households, nearly 48% of the city. Similar upgrades are underway in other districts to ensure 24×7 power supply,” he said.
Pertinently, last year, CM Omar had informed that his government was trying their best to provide better facilities to the people and the complaints would pour in with regard to the pesky power cuts as it is the outcome of overloading.
However, he had informed that the 24×7 electricity would be possible only when the 100 per cent metering is done.
Furthermore, the CM as reported by KNO had also stated that adequate arrangements were put in place for better facilities to the people during winters.
Omar added that the tourist rush is expected to increase once the snowfall occurs, adding that the efforts are on to make J&K a round-the-year tourist destination—(KNO)
