Urges public to use online revenue services

BUDGAM, DECEMBER 27: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Saturday presided over a Revenue Camp organised at Sub-Division Khansahib with the objective of strengthening grassroots governance and ensuring effective, timely and hassle-free redressal of public grievances.

The camp, as per an official statement, witnessed significant participation from the general public, who raised various issues pertaining to revenue matters, land records, public service delivery and other civic concerns.

During the camp, grievances projected by the public were patiently heard by the DC, and interactions were held in a cordial and reassuring manner. It was observed that such outreach initiatives are being conducted to take administration to the doorsteps of the people and to ensure that genuine issues are addressed in a transparent, accountable and time-bound manner.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC stated that the district administration remains firmly committed to responsive, efficient and citizen-friendly governance. He emphasized that all genuine grievances brought before the administration are being examined on merit, with special focus on long-pending and deserving cases.

He also highlighted the pivotal role of public participation in strengthening governance and improving service delivery.

The DC  impressed upon the revenue officers to adopt a humane, proactive and solution-oriented approach while dealing with public issues, particularly those related to mutations, inheritance cases, demarcation, land disputes and issuance of revenue documents. Directions were issued for expeditious disposal of cases within prescribed timelines to minimize inconvenience to the general public.

The DC emphasized that transparency, fairness and strict adherence to rules and procedures are being accorded top priority in revenue administration. He stated that accountability at all levels is being strengthened and conveyed that any laxity in service delivery will be viewed seriously.

Officers were directed to remain accessible to the public and to conduct regular field visits for effective grievance redressal.

While highlighting the importance of digital governance, the DC encouraged greater public awareness and utilisation of online revenue service platforms, including Jan Sugam and other digital initiatives of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at providing revenue-related services in a seamless, transparent and time-bound manner.

He stated that such platforms are being strengthened to reduce procedural delays, enhance transparency and minimize the need for repeated visits to offices.

The DC further underscored the importance of inter-departmental coordination and stated that convergence among departments is being actively pursued to resolve multi-sectoral issues in a holistic manner. He maintained that sustained engagement with the public is essential for ensuring inclusive and balanced development across all areas of the district.

During the camp, the DC redressed several grievances on the spot, while assuring that the remaining issues raised by the public will be closely monitored. He stated that necessary directions have already been issued to the concerned departments for prompt and effective redressal.

The DC reiterated that the district administration will continue to organize such public outreach programmes in future to further strengthen public trust and ensure transparent, participatory and people-centric governance.

On the occasion, besides Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Budgam, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Khansahib, Tehsildar Khansahib, other senior district and sectoral officers were present. The presence of senior officers enabled on-the-spot assessment of issues and issuance of necessary instructions for timely follow-up action.
