KATHUA, NOVEMBER 27: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma Saturday chaired a meeting of the District level NCORD Committee to review the measures taken by stakeholder departments to curb the drug menace in the district.
The departments, as per an official statement, briefed the chair on the preventive and enforcement measures in place. The State Taxes Department informed that tracking of courier consignments are being conducted in coordination with other enforcement agencies. The Excise and Taxation Officer apprised that mapping of vulnerable areas is underway and awareness activities have been intensified. It was also informed that counselling sessions are being hosted in Colleges through psychology subject specialists for early identification and behavioural guidance.
The Health, Rural Development and School Education departments, along with the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, reported continued implementation of anti-drug awareness campaigns at institutional and community levels. The ADCs and SDMs shared inputs regarding education, tracking and enforcement efforts in their respective jurisdictions. The Departments also shared information related to suspected drug activities in identified areas and ongoing coordination with enforcement agencies.
After reviewing the measures, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for sustained and coordinated efforts to effectively curb the drug menace. He directed all departments to strengthen coordination and ensure real-time information sharing with the Police and other stakeholders. The DC further instructed ADCs and SDMs to consolidate awareness, surveillance and enforcement activities and ensure regular inspections by concerned departments.
SSP, Mohita Sharma; DC State Taxes, Joginder Singh Jasrotia; ADC, Vishavjeet Singh; SDM Hiranagar, Phulail Singh; ACP and officers from concerned departments attended the meeting. The ADCs of Billawar and Basohli, besides SDM Bani, joined the meeting virtually.
