SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 30: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, on Tuesday undertook a comprehensive tour of Lal Chowk and adjoining areas to review the developmental needs in the area.

During the visit, the DC, as per an official statement, was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz; Joint Commissioner SMC, Nuzhat Khurshid; Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar; Superintending Engineer of R&B, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, ARTO, Executive Engineers of City Drainage, UEED, KPDCL,  Jal Shakti, Tehsildar South and other senior officers.

The visit began with a detailed interaction with the Traders Association of Central Lal Chowk, during which various developmental and civic issues faced by the business community were discussed.

On the occasion, the traders highlighted several demands related to infrastructure upgradation, traffic management, drainage, sanitation, and beautification of the area. They also demanded the upliftment of the surrounding area of the old Lower Court.

The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the demands put forth by the traders and assured them that their genuine issues would be taken up with the concerned authorities for early redressal. He emphasised that coordinated efforts would be made to ensure timely execution of developmental works while minimising inconvenience to the public and the trading community.

The DC also directed the concerned officers to maintain close inter-departmental coordination to ensure the holistic development of Lal Chowk and its adjoining areas.
