RAJOURI, JANUARY 02: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma Friday inaugurated the Community Radio Station ‘Radio Sangam’ here at village Keri in Block Doongi started by the Indian Army.
Senior Army officers were present at the launch function.
Speaking to media at the launch, the Deputy Commissioner, as per an official statement, underscored the critical need for such a platform, terming it a vital source of information, awareness and entertainment for the local population. He highlighted that the community radio station would act as an important support system for the district administration, especially during natural disasters and other challenging situations.
“This community radio station will ensure timely and effective communication—from villages to the district administration and vice versa—thereby bridging communication gaps and enhancing overall preparedness,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
The DC congratulated to the Indian Army for taking the lead in this innovative initiative, which is expected to strengthen community resilience, social cohesion and connectivity in remote and border areas.
The establishment of Radio Sangam marks a significant step towards empowering remote communities through accessible media. Besides addressing immediate communication needs, the initiative also paves the way for scalable community radio models that promote information dissemination, public participation and digital inclusion in far-flung areas of the district.
