Police nab drug peddler in Budgam

Srinagar, Jan 05: Continuing its drive against the drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Budgam nabbed a drug peddler and recovered a contraband substance from his possession.

A police party from Police Post Narbal at a checkpoint established at Syed Mohallah Narbal, near Peer Masjid intercepted a vehicle (Ertiga) bearing registration number JK05M-8910. During search of the driver, 32 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Showkat Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Ahad Wani, resident of Wanigam, Pattan, Baramulla. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 02/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Magam, and further investigation is in progress.

Police reaffirm its commitment to eliminating drug abuse from society and urge the general public to share any information related to drug peddling or trafficking, the statement reads—(KNO)
