Mission YUVA Is Engineering A New Economic Destiny For J&K

The launch and promising trajectory of Mission YUVA in Jammu & Kashmir represent a paradigm shift in economic policy, from seeking job placements to fostering a culture of self-reliance and enterprise. This government scheme is a meticulously engineered ecosystem designed to unlock the latent entrepreneurial potential of the region’s youth. By aiming to create over 1.37 lakh enterprises and 4.25 lakh jobs by 2028, Mission YUVA has set an ambitious but data-driven course to fundamentally reshape J&K’s economic landscape. What sets this mission apart is its holistic, four-pillar framework addressing the complete entrepreneurial journey. It wisely begins with ‘Culture’, actively working to dismantle the fear of failure through thousands of grassroots awareness camps, making entrepreneurship a respected and aspirational choice. The ‘Capital’ pillar innovates with the Nano Enterprise model, providing subsidised credit for small, viable businesses, thereby reducing risk and making finance accessible beyond urban centres. The focus on ‘Capacity’ ensures entrepreneurs are not just funded but future-ready, equipped with digital and financial literacy through blended learning. Finally, the ‘Connectivity’ pillar integrates these new businesses with national markets via platforms like ONDC, ensuring their longevity and growth. The robust institutional backbone, from the Chief Secretary’s oversight to district-level Business Help Desks, provides the necessary hand-holding, transforming a complex process into a guided journey. The digital spine of the mission, through its dedicated app and portal, ensures transparency, tracks outcomes, and builds citizen trust. The early results are profoundly encouraging: over 1.59 lakh registrations and thousands of sanctioned and disbursed loans demonstrate that the model is resonating on the ground. By specifically empowering first-generation entrepreneurs, women, and youth from remote areas, Mission YUVA is fostering inclusive growth where it is needed most. This mission is a cornerstone for the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ in J&K. It moves beyond rhetoric to create a tangible, sustainable pathway for the youth to become architects of their own destiny and job creators for their communities. If sustained with the same rigour, Mission YUVA has the potential to transform J&K from a region seeking employment into a vibrant hub of innovation and enterprise. This is a blueprint for empowerment that deserves full-throated support and recognition.
