Baramulla, Jan 09: Authorities on Friday ordered temporary closure of Baramulla–Uri National Highway on Sunday in view of the proposed hill cutting works.

The order issued by the district magistrate, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) cites the apprehensions of landslides as seen in the past days for the closure of the vital highway.

“The restrictions at Danakha Mode and NS Bridge Uri from 07:00 AM to 05:00 PM on Sunday (11.01.26) are necessary in order to avert loss of life and property”, reads the order.

Pertinently, the highway had witnessed multiple landslides in the recent past, causing severe inconvenience to commuters.

The incidents compelled authorities to halt traffic movement and divert traffic flow through the dilapidated Khadniyar–Gantamulla road. (KNO)
