DC Bandipora reviews 7th minor irrigation census, 2nd census of water bodies

BANDIPORA, JANUARY 10: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, Saturday chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of the 7th Minor Irrigation Census and the 2nd Census of Water Bodies being conducted in the district.

It was informed that the Minor Irrigation Census is being conducted by the Revenue Department through a fully digital mode. The Water Body Census includes surface water and groundwater schedules, with District Nodal Officers, Block Level Officers, and Patwaris designated as enumerators. Patwaris are collecting field-level data on irrigation capacity, area catering, irrigated land, and irrigation through government canals.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Irrigation and Flood Control Department to depute technical experts for accurate data entry, sought feedback on challenges faced, and assured full support from the district administration. She also directed the Agriculture Department to share data on irrigated and un-irrigated areas to ensure accuracy and timely completion of the census.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Executive Engineer I&FC Sumbal, Executive Engineer PWD Gurez, all Tehsildars of the district, District Officer Pollution Control Board Bandipora, and Master Trainers including the Naib Tehsildars.
