PULWAMA, JANUARY 14: Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom, Wednesday chaired a meeting of the District Level Telecom Committee (DLTC) here at the Administrative Complex, to review the status of telecom infrastructure and network connectivity in the district.
During the meeting, as per an official statement, discussions focused on mobile tower saturation, augmentation of signals, phase-wise coverage network status, Right of Way (RoW) issues, and the progress of the BharatNet project.
The Deputy Commissioner took a detailed review of the project-wise status of mobile tower installations and progress of the BSNL 4G Saturation Project across the district while status of signal augmentation, operational 4G sites improving coverage in rural and shadow areas and status of the proposed 5G rollout was reviewed.
The progress of the BharatNet project was also reviewed, wherein it was informed that fibre rollout to Gram Panchayats is underway. It was further informed that work is in progress in various blocks of the district and will be completed within the stipulated timelines.
Dr. Qayoom also sought details from the Superintending Engineer, KPDCL, regarding the status of power extension to the constructed towers and directed him to ensure timely power extension to all constructed and planned towers.
Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of close coordination among all stakeholders to ensure timely completion of telecom and digital connectivity projects in the district.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Pulwama; Superintending Engineer, KPDCL Circle Pulwama; Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Pulwama; Executive Engineers of R&B and PMGSY; SDEO BSNL, Pulwama; representatives of BSNL, Airtel, Jio, BharatNet, and other concerned members of the committee.
