ANANTNAG, JANUARY 19: In accordance with the national-level calendar, Phase-II of the “Vande Mataram” 150 Years Commemoration Campaign commenced Monday across Anantnag with multiple mass singing programmes organised at prominent public venues and institutions throughout the district.

The main function was held at Town Hall, Anantnag, where the Deputy Commissioner, SF Hamid presided over the event.

On the occasion, participants, as per an official statement, recited the National Song “Vande Mataram” in unison, reaffirming the district’s collective spirit of unity, pride and devotion to the Motherland.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the historic and inspirational significance of “Vande Mataram” in our Nation’s freedom struggle and its enduring message of national unity and service. He called upon all stakeholders, especially youth and students, to uphold the values of discipline, dedication and constructive citizenship, and to contribute meaningfully towards the progress and well-being of society and the nation.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that Phase-II of the campaign will feature a series of patriotic and vibrant activities to be organised in a smooth, dignified and inclusive manner across educational institutions and public spaces of the district, culminating on Republic Day, January 26.

Appreciating Anantnag for its consistent and wholehearted participation in national and nation-building initiatives, the Deputy Commissioner expressed confidence that Phase-II will achieve greater impact through the active involvement of officials, students, youth volunteers, civil society organisations and the general public.

As part of the programme, documentaries and short films highlighting the genesis and significance of the National Song were screened to enhance public awareness and deepen understanding of its national importance.

Similar mass singing events and programmes were also organised in the sub-divisions and other public institutions of the district, where senior officers, students and civil society members participated with enthusiasm.
