150 Years of ‘Vande Mataram’ : District Admin Kupwara holds patriotic function

KUPWARA, JANUARY 19:  District Administration Kupwara Monday held a Grand function at Town Hall, Kupwara, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the iconic national song “Vande Mataram.”

The event, as per an official statement, witnessed active participation from civil administration, police, education department, students, teachers, and members of the general public, reflecting a strong sense of national pride and unity.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad Khan; ASP Kupwara, Javaid Ahmad, besides, district officers and employees were  present in the function.

The programme commenced with a soul-stirring rendition of “Vande Mataram” by the Police Band, which filled the auditorium with patriotic spirit. The performance received wide appreciation from the audience and set a solemn and inspiring tone for the celebrations.

As part of the commemorative activities, an impressive pictorial presentation and exhibition of posters were displayed, highlighting India’s freedom movement, the historical significance of “Vande Mataram,” and the theme of national integrity. These posters were creatively prepared by students and teachers from various educational institutions of the district, showcasing their talent, historical understanding, and commitment to the ideals of the nation.

A special documentary screening on the theme “Vande Mataram” was also organized during the function. The documentary traced the origin, historical relevance, and enduring impact of the song on India’s freedom struggle and nation-building process.

 The screening provided valuable insights and served as an educational and inspirational experience for the audience.

On the occasion, the ADC highlighted the relevance of “Vande Mataram” in contemporary times, emphasizing its role in fostering patriotism, unity, and a sense of collective responsibility among citizens, especially the youth.

 He lauded the efforts of students, teachers, and organisers for making the event meaningful and impactful.

Meanwhile, Certificates of Appreciation were distributed among school children, media persons and other participants for their efforts.
