‘Omar Abdullah demonstrated political honesty’

Sajid Raina

Srinagar, Oct 04: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party president and former minister Altaf Bukhari on Saturday said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is functioning as a unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

Bukhari, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in response to a question about PDP’s recent rermaks, alleged that Mehbooba’s politics is under BJP’s influence. “This is a fixed match between BJP and PDP,” he said, adding that every political party has working relation with the Centre.

Bukhari said that Omar Abdullah has demonstrated political honesty to some extent by not joining hands with BJP. ” Omar had taken votes on the promise of not aligning with the BJP, and now that he has repeated that stand, it shows political honesty,” he said

Bukhari said that in 2014, the PDP had taken votes to keep the BJP away, but later joined hands with them. He said the political consequences of that decision are visible today.

“Omar may have learned from that, and his statement reflects that,” Bukhari said.

Regarding the statehood, Bukhari said people in different regions, including Leh, should raise their own voices, and that each region must speak for its rights independently. (KNO)
