Key PDP figures omitted for upcoming Panchayat, Local Body elections

Srinagar, Oct 06: Peoples Democratic Party on Monday named several leaders as constituency in-charges in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the upcoming Panchayat and Local Body elections even as some key figures miss out.

According to an official communique, the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti approved the list to “strengthen party’s grassroots structure.”

Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter Iltija Mufti, who lost the Assembly election from the Srigufwara-Bijbehara last year, has been renamed as the constituency in-charge

Abdul Rehman Veeri has been assigned Anantnag East- Shangus constituency, Dr Mehboob Beg – Anantnag, Advocate Sheikh Javed – Anantnag West, Dr Shabir Siddiqi – Pahalgam, Chowdhary Talib (ST) – Kokernag and Mohd Ashraf Malik – Dooru.

In Kulgam district, Mohd Sartaj Madani has been named as in-charge of the Devsar constituency, while Gulzar Ahmad Dar has been nominated for DH Pora.

Zahoor Ahmad Mir has been named as the constituency incharge for Pampore, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra for Pulwama and Rafiq Ahmad Naik for Tral.

For Shopian district, Ajaz Ahmad Mir has been named as the incharge for Zainapora-Wachi, while Raja Waheed for Shopian. For Ganderbal district, Bashir Ahmad Mir has been named as the incharge for Ganderbal and Jamaat Ali Shaheen for Kangan.

For Bandipora district, Nayeem Akhtar has been named as the incharge for Bandipora and Yasir Reshi for Sonawari. For Rajouri district, Advocate Asif Iqbal Chowdhary has nominated as the constituency incharge.

However, the absence of several key figures like Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Yawar Bandey, and Gaffar Sofi have missed out from the list. Interestingly, former MLA Ajaz Ahmad Mir has retained his traditional stronghold Wachi (Zainapora)—(KNO)
