Srinagar, Oct 14: National Conference (NC) candidates for Rajya Sabha on Tuesday met the party President, Dr Farooq Abdullah here at his Gupkar residence here to express gratitude and discuss the future strategies for the upcoming elections, slated to be held on October 24.

The four candidates, who submitted their nomination papers for Rajya Sabha elections yesterday and met the party president, include Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Shammi Oberoi, Sajjad Kichloo and Imran Nabi Dar.

Dar said that the candidates expressed their gratitude to the party president for their nomination and discussed the future strategies for the elections.

“We are hopeful of securing all the four seats in the Rajya Sabha elections. Three seats are expected in NC’s kitty already and we are hopeful that we will secure the fourth seat as well,” he added.

He added that they have already made an appeal to all the secular parties to cast their votes in NC’s favour to give a message to BJP that they are not with them.

About the future course of action, Dar said that the party will also meet the secular parties personally here to seek their support in the Rajya Sabha elections. “The meetings with the secular parties will begin soon,” he added.

Pertinently, seven candidates including four from NC and three from Bharatiya Janata Party have filed their nomination papers for Rajya Sabha elections, which is set to be held on October 24.

The Rajya Sabha elections are scheduled to be held to fill four seats that have remained vacant since February 2021—(KNO)
