Srinagar, Oct 14: Two infiltrators were killed after security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said on Tuesday.
Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that based on specific intelligence input, a joint operation by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched in Machil sector on October 13.
Alert troops noticed suspicious movement near the LoC and challenged the infiltrators, who opened indiscriminate fire. In the ensuing gunfight, two terrorists were neutralized.
A large quantity of weapons and other war-like stores were recovered from the encounter site, officials added. (KNO)
