3 absconders arrested in Sgr, Shopian: Police

Srinagar, Oct 15: In its ongoing crackdown on absconders and proclaimed offenders, Police on Wednesday said to have apprehended three long-time absconders in Srinagar and Shopian.

“In Srinagar, the two absconders identified as Waseem Bhat son of Abdul Majeed Bhat resident of Al-Farooq Colony, presently residing in Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina, who has been absconding since 2013 and Ab Rashid Sheikh son of Ab Ahad Sheikh resident of Athwajan Panthachowk, who has been absconding since 2021 have been arrested following specific intelligence inputs,” a police spokesman in a statement.

Subsequently, the necessary legal formalities were completed, and the accused persons were produced before the concerned Court in Srinagar, the statement reads.

Similarly in Shopian, Police arrested an absconder who had been evading arrest for the past 10 years.

The arrested individual has been identified as Ab. Hamid Sheikh, son of Gh. Mohd Sheikh, resident of Peerpora, who was wanted in Case FIR No. 81/2015, under section 307 RPC. A warrant under Section 512 CrPC had been issued against him by the Hon’ble Court of Law. After his arrest, the accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court, as per legal formalities, the statement added.

Meanwhile, J&K Police reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that no individual evading justice remains beyond its reach—(KNO)
