SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 16: To discuss a range of issues pertaining to winter sports in Jammu and Kashmir, members of the Winter Games Association of Jammu & Kashmir (WGAJK) Thursday had a meeting with Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul.

In addition to the 6th edition of Khelo India Winter Games 2026, Secretary JKSC asked the members to prepare for activities at the national and domestic levels.

Secretary JKSC also emphasized the importance of exploring winter sports activities throughout J&K, specifically in Sonamarg, Shopian, Bhaderwah and Kishtwar. Winter sports in J&K has a lot of potential, and expanding these activities to locations other than Gulmarg will undoubtedly help the J&K’s winter sports grow, which will in turn help to promote winter tourism as well, she said.

In order to organize these events throughout J&K, members of WGAJK assured Secretary JKSC full support and coordination. They also assured to look into every possibility for holding winter sports events at these locations.

The meeting was attended by DSOC JKSC, Javid Ur Rehman,  Executive Officer JKSC, Majid Yousuf, President WGAJK, Rauf Tramboo and other concerned officials.
