Jammu, Oct 17: A surprise ticket checking campaign was conducted under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, on the Banihal to Katra section of the Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Rail Link Project in the Jammu Division. The main objective of this campaign was to create awareness among passengers about ticketed travel, curb ticketless travel, and increase railway revenue.
For this surprise ticket checking campaign, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, formed a checking team consisting of Assistant Commercial Manager, Manoj Meena, Ticket Inspector, Abdul Rashid, and other ticket checking staff. They investigated and took action against passengers travelling without tickets on trains running between Banihal and Katra.
During the action, approximately ₹36000was collected as fines from 33 ticketless passengers. Passengers were also made aware of the importance of travelling with a ticket and that travelling without a ticket is a punishable offence.
Regarding this surprise ticket checking campaign, Uchit Singhal stated, “Such checking campaigns will be conducted periodically in various sections of the division to curb ticketless travellers and to prevent inconvenience to other passengers during their travel.”
