Police arrest 5 absconders

Kulgam/Sopore, Oct 25: In a major success against absconding offenders, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said to have arrested five long time absconders in Kulgam and Sopore.

“In Kulgam, J&K Police arrested one absconder namely Manzoor Ahmad Mahu son of Sannahullah Mahu resident of Mander Bagh, Srinagar, who was involved in case FIR No. 89/2006 U/S 279, 304-A RPC of Police Station Qazigund. The said case was registered on 26-04-2006, and the accused had been evading arrest since long,” a police spokesman said in a statement.

In Sopore, J&K Police said to have apprehended four absconders, including three wanted in a heinous crime case pending since 2014. “A special team from Police Station Panzalla arrested 03 accused namely Mohammad Sadiq Khan, son of Mohammad Yousuf Khan, Ajaz Ahmad Shah, son of Mohammad Mozim Shah & Mohsin Ali Shah, son of Mohammad Mozim Shah all residents of Paranpilan, Uri, wanted in case FIR No. 10/2014 U/S 363, 376, 109 RPC of Police Station Panzalla. The trio had been absconding for the last 11 years to evade the law,” police said.

In another operation, Police Post Warpora Sopore apprehended Shahzad Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Ramzan Lone, resident of Bunkoot Bandipora, wanted in FIR No. 241/2019 U/S 366, 376D, 344, 109 RPC of Police Station Sopore. He had been evading arrest since 2019, police said.

After completing the necessary legal formalities, all the arrested absconders are being produced before the Courts of competent jurisdiction at Baramulla and Sopore, the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, J&K Police reiterated their commitment to bringing absconders and offenders to justice to uphold the rule of law in the district—(KNO)
