71 PMGSY projects completed in Kishtwar, work on 46 in progress

KISHTWAR, NOVEMBER 01: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma Saturday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of road infrastructure projects being executed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) across all subdivisions of the district.

During the meeting, the Executive Engineers (PMGSY) briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the current status, physical achievements and challenges encountered in the execution of various projects. A detailed PowerPoint presentation was also given outlining project-wise progress and timelines.

It was informed that in Division Kishtwar, out of 99 sanctioned projects, 58 have been completed, while work on 41 are in progress. In Marwah Division, 13 out of 21 schemes are complete and work on 5 others is underway.

The DC took a detailed review of the road projects taken up under different phases of PMGSY implementation, including the road projects from Gahan to Chandali, Ikhala to Lopara, Margi to Sukhnai, Cherji to Semna Bhata, Hidyal to Hargadi, Afani to Jar, Shashoo to Sazar, Shiwas to Ongayee, Atholi to Palali and Kandni to Ohli, among others. The progress of bridge projects taken up under the scheme was also reviewed.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the PMGSY engineers to ensure timely completion of all works while maintaining strict quality standards. He directed them to take disciplinary action, including blacklisting against non-performing contractors. He directed the Engineers to submit the list of contractors who have abandoned or delayed works, so that appropriate action can be initiated against them.

Emphasizing the importance of environmental protection, the DC directed the Executive Engineers to ensure proper disposal of muck at identified locations to avoid any damage to forest areas during the construction.

He strictly directed to safeguard forest land during the execution of works and stressed the need to undertake plantation drives along road alignments to maintain ecological balance.

Reiterating the district administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards substandard work, the DC underscored the need for rigorous quality monitoring and accountability to ensure durable, sustainable and environmentally responsible rural connectivity in the district.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Idrees lone; CPO  Akhil Thakur; ExEn PMGSY Kishtwar Rajesh Sharma; ExEn PMGSY Marwah, DFO Kishtwar, AEEs besides other Officers and Concerned Staff.
