BUDGAM, NOVEMBER 06: The District Administration Budgam is all set to commemorate 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram” with grandeur and patriotic fervour.

In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, today chaired a meeting of officers from all line departments in the VC room of the DC Office Complex to finalize the activity plan for the first phase of the year-long celebration.

At the outset, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah briefed the meeting about the objectives, framework, and schedule of events planned for the celebration. He informed that the commemorative campaign will unfold in four phases, commencing with a mega inaugural event on November 7, which will feature live streaming of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s speech and the inaugural session.

The first phase includes flag hoisting, invocation of “Vande Mataram,” cultural performances, screening of short films, felicitation of artists, and a handicraft and handloom exhibition.

The week-long celebration will further include essay and quiz competitions, exhibitions on the freedom struggle and “Vande Mataram,” police band performances, mural and wall paintings, cleanliness drives, youth rallies, mini-marathons, and documentary screenings to be organized by various departments.

The DC said that the celebration of 150 years of “Vande Mataram ” would serve as a tribute to India’s rich cultural heritage and the spirit of patriotism that binds the nation together.

He said that the celebrations are envisioned as a platform to rekindle national pride and to remind the younger generation of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters in shaping the nation.

The DC further said that the celebrations should reflect the diversity, unity, and cultural vibrancy of Budgam district, ensuring that every citizen feels connected to the spirit of the event. He stressed that departments must work in close coordination to guarantee widespread public involvement, particularly from students, youth, and community groups.

The DC emphasised that all activities should be executed in an inclusive, innovative, and people-centric manner, making the celebrations a district-wide movement of patriotic expression and cultural pride.

The meeting was attended by ADC Budgam, ASP Budgam, CPO Budgam, all SDMs, ACD Budgam, CEO Budgam, DIO Information, DIO Informatics, principals of all colleges, and other senior officers of the district administration.
