DC Gbl reviews winter preparedness in district

GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 08: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore Saturday chaired a meeting of district and sectoral officers to review winter preparedness of different departments in the district.

During the meeting, the DC reviewed availability of men and snow clearance machinery, stock position of essential commodities besides action plans prepared by the concerned departments to prevent interruption in road connectivity and services during this winter season.

The DC instructed officers to prepare a comprehensive and meticulous snow clearance and winter preparedness plan to avoid any inconvenience to people by extending a prompt response. He also called for better coordination in dealing with snow clearance operations and to ensure smooth power, water supply and other essential supplies.

He directed the officers from R&B, Mechanical, BRO, PMGSY and MC Ganderbal for deployment of snow clearing machinery and equipment for snow clearance on essential, main and internal roads besides far-flung routes as and when required. He also directed the departments to ensure all stage contracts are in place latest by 20th of November.

The DC directed the Health department to ensure sufficient stock of medicines and medical supplies, especially in remote areas. KPDCL was directed to enhance buffer stocks of Transformers and other equipment.

AD FCS&CA was directed to maintain adequate reserves of LPG cylinders, rations and other essential commodities to avoid any shortage during heavy snowfall. It was also given out that the forest department will publicize dates and venues for distribution/ sale of firewood.

Fire and Emergency Services, SDRF and other agencies concerned were directed to remain on high alert to tackle any eventuality. F&ES was also directed to deploy Quick Response Teams in Sonamarg during the winter season.

He also directed SDM Kangan and Tehsildars to take review of winter preparedness within their own jurisdictions for efficient and timely response to adverse weather conditions.

The meeting was attended by the Additional District Development Commissioner, CEO Sonamarg Development Authority, Additional SP Ganderbal, S. Engineers of KPDCL, PHE, Hydraulics, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, SDM Kangan, Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Ex. Engineers of KPDCL, R&B, PHE, Hydraulics, Chief Medical Officer, Tehsildars, BDOs, AD FCS&CA, AD F&E, ARTO, Dy.SP Traffic, Dy. SP SDF, EO MC Ganderbal, besides officers from MET, BSNL, BRO etc.
