Bandipora, November 8: As part of the ongoing Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas 2025, a series of health and awareness activities were conducted across various locations in Bandipora district.

Health check-ups were conducted at different locations in Block Gurez at Primary Health Centres and AAM Centres. During the screenings, various national health programmes were implemented, which included Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening and collection of sputum samples besides, free medicines were distributed among the beneficiaries.

In observance of Jan Jatiya Gaurav Divas, dedicated medical camps were also organized at Village Dardpora and Chittay Bandy to extend essential healthcare services to tribal communities.

A comprehensive range of services were provided during the camps, including general health check-ups, screening for NCDs (BP and Diabetes), maternal and child health services, distribution of essential medicines, health awareness and counseling, screening for anaemia and nutritional deficiencies, and awareness regarding Ayushman Bharat and other government health schemes.

A large number of beneficiaries availed services at both locations, reflecting strong community participation. Special focus was laid on early detection of illnesses and promotion of preventive healthcare among tribal families. The initiative aimed to strengthen healthcare access in remote tribal areas in line with the government’s vision of empowering tribal communities and recognising their invaluable contribution to the nation.

As part of the educational activities under the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas 2025, a debate competition was held at the Gujjar and Bakarwal Boys Hostel Bandipora. The participating students spoke about the life and contributions of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and discussed various aspects of Gujjar tribal culture.

An awareness programme at Government High School Chanpal, aimed at spreading awareness about various tribal scholarship schemes, hostel admissions, and other beneficiary-oriented initiatives for tribal students was also organized.

Speakers emphasized the importance of education and government support schemes in empowering tribal youth and encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunities available for their educational and personal growth.

These series of activities formed part of the broader celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, which commemorates the rich legacy and invaluable contributions of tribal freedom fighters and communities.

Through health outreach, educational programmes, and cultural engagements, the district administration reaffirmed its commitment to empowering tribal populations, preserving their heritage and ensuring inclusive development across all sections of society.
