DLSA B’pora holds Special Lok Adalat

BANDIPORA, NOVEMBER 22: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bandipora, conducted a Special Lok Adalat Saturday, exclusively dedicated to the disposal of criminal compoundable cases across the District Court Bandipora and the Munsiff Courts of the district.

The initiative underscores the continuing institutional commitment to conciliatory justice, timely dispute resolution, and augmentation of accessible legal redressal mechanisms.

 The Special Lok Adalat was organized under the leadership of Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority), and Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Judge, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority).

The proceedings were supervised by Shazia Tabasum, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority, and Mir Wajahat, Principal District & Sessions Judge, In-charge Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Bandipora, with operational guidance by Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary, DLSA Bandipora.

For the expeditious and amicable settlement of the listed matters, three benches were constituted which included first Bench at District Court Bandipora, Presided over by Mir Wajahat, Principal District & Sessions Judge with Bench Member Advocate Malik Mushtaq. The Second Bench was presided over by Amandeep Singh, Chairman TLSC (Munsiff/JMIC) Bandipora, with Bench Member, Mehak Mehboob, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Bandipora. The Third Bench was presided over by Mushtaq Ahmad Hurra, President, Bar Association Sumbal with Bench Member, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Munsiff Court Sumbal.

A total of 814 criminal compoundable cases were taken up before these benches, out of which 704 matters stood amicably settled, and an amount of ₹19,71,187 was realized as settlement amount.

The District Legal Services Authority, Bandipora, reaffirms its resolve to promote participatory justice, reduce pendency through lawful conciliation, and strengthen public confidence in the justice delivery system.
