DC, SSP Sgr chairs NCORD meeting

Srinagar Nov 26: A meeting of District Level Committee on Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) on Wednesday convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo here at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex to review the ongoing efforts and measures in the fight against drug abuse and its peddlers in the district.

Senior Superintendent of Police(SSP), Sandeep Chakravarthy was also present in the meeting.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed update from the stakeholder departments in the district and ongoing measures to combat drug menace and deterrence against drug peddlers. Besides measures for counselling and rehabilitation of affected persons.

 

He was apprised of enforcement actions, counselling interventions, awareness programmes and monitoring mechanisms adopted by all concerned departments.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner and SSP emphasised intensifying anti-drug strategy with focused attention on tougher enforcement measures including suspension of driving licences of drug peddlers.

During the meeting, stress was laid on the need for strong inter-departmental coordination, and intensified action against drug peddlers.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Aadil Fareed, Joint Commissioner SMC, Nuzhat Khurshid, Superintendent of Police, Umar Shah, SDM East, Zubair Ahmad, District Social Welfare Officer and Officers of Excise, Drug Control Organization, DYS&S, Heads of ATFs at SMHS, SKIMS Bemina and other concerned.
