KISHTWAR, DECEMBER 15: The Department of Agriculture Kishtwar Monday organised a one-day Youth Club Campaign-cum-Awareness workshop with the aim of sensitising young minds to sustainable agricultural practices, environmental conservation and community development.

The programme, as per an official statement, was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the participants, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the pivotal role of youth in fostering cleanliness, environmental protection and the adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices at the grassroots level. He emphasized that empowered and informed youth can act as catalysts for positive change in rural communities.

A total of 10 Youth Clubs, with two clubs from each block—Kishtwar, Palmar, Thakrie, Nagseni and Mughal Maidan—participated in the workshop.

During the programme, detailed deliberations were held on the role and responsibilities of youth clubs, highlighting their involvement in key community-centric activities such as conducting cleanliness drives, organizing plantation campaigns, supporting rejuvenation of local water bodies and dissemination of weather advisories among farming communities.

Officers from the Agriculture Department apprised the participants of various government schemes and stressed the importance of youth engagement in environmental protection and sustainable agricultural development.

The workshop concluded with an interactive session encouraging youth club members to actively participate in community-based initiatives and serve as ambassadors of change in their respective areas.

The program was attended by CAO Kushal Chandel; Head KVK, Amitesh Sharma; District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Rajeshwer Singh; Subject Matter Specialist (SMS), Vikas Koushal;    Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Dheeraj Singh   along with other officials and stakeholders.
