New Delhi, Dec 18: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another key accused in case linked to the Delhi blast that killed 11 persons and injured several others near the historic Red Fort area last month, taking the accused person arrested in the case to nine.

According to details available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the accused has been identified as Yasir Ahmad Dar of Shopian. “He was arrested from New Delhi under relevant provisions of the UA(P) Act 1967 and BNS 2023 in the case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI,” the anti-terror agency said.

It said that investigations have revealed Yasir’s active role in the conspiracy behind the blast that rocked the national capital on November 10. “An active participant in the conspiracy, he had sworn allegiance and taken an oath for carrying out self-sacrificial operations,” it said.

It added that the probe has further shown that Yasir was in close contact with the other accused persons in the case, including Mufti Irfan and Dr Umar Un Nabi – the suicide who triggered the blast near the Red Fort area.

“Working closely with various central and state agencies, NIA continues to move with alacrity to unravel the complete conspiracy behind the terror attack,” it said.

Earlier this month, the NIA had conducted extensive searches at the premises of several accused and suspects in J&K and Uttar Pradesh and seized various digital devices and other incriminating materials.

“These were preceded by similar searches at the premises of the prime accused, Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganie and Dr Shaheen Saeed, in the Al Falah University complex and other places in Faridabad (Haryana),” it said.

Earlier, the Anti-Terror Agency had arrested eight accused individuals in the case, including several doctors. On November 10, a high-intensity explosion ripped through a car in one of the busiest areas of the national capital, killing 11 people and injuring several others. The blast was triggered by Dr Umar who was driving the car. Following the blast, the investigation of the case was handed over to the NIA by ministry of Home Affairs.

It was only after the arrest of Dr Adeel and Dr Muzammil – co-conspirators in the case – that Jammu and Kashmir police busted the white-collar terror module and recovered over 2,900 kg of explosives from Haryana’s Faridabad.

According to the NIA, it is tracing every angle, link, and associates connected to the terror attack to expose the full extent of the plot. (KNO)
