BANDIPORA, DECEMBER 26:.Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) successfully organized an Export Awareness-cum-E-Commerce Onboarding drive in Baramulla.

The workshop was conducted in collaboration with the District Administration Baramulla, the ODOP Team, DPIIT, APEDA, and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).

The primary objective of the workshop, as per an official statement, was to empower local MSMEs, artisans, SHGs, FPOs, and entrepreneurs by equipping them with comprehensive knowledge on export-related schemes, procedures, and the benefits of digital commerce platforms. The event aimed to connect local producers and artisans with national and international markets through digital platforms and to get well acquainted with the different schemes of the Centre and State Governments.

The programme was attended by the Assistant Director, Handicrafts Baramulla, along with officers from various line departments.

At the outset, a representative of JKTPO highlighted the pivotal role of JKTPO in organizing district-level outreach programmes to promote ODOP and facilitate seller’s onboarding on e-commerce platforms.

Senior Consultant from GeM, briefed the participants on the functioning of the GeM portal, documentation requirements for registration, and the benefits available to sellers upon onboarding.

Likewise, Business Development Consultant, APEDA, provided valuable insights into APEDA’s role in promoting agricultural exports and explained the registration process and documentation requirements.

ITS, Assistant Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT),  joined the session virtually and elaborated on foreign trade policies, and the procedure for obtaining the Import Export Code (IEC). The participants were explained the role of Credit Guarantee Bank for exporters after conceiving the order from the overseas buyers by providing the insurance guarantee to the consignment.

More than 110 artisans, exporters, and FPO representatives from Baramulla district participated in the workshop. The event witnessed enthusiastic engagement, with participants actively interacting during the sessions and expressing keen interest in onboarding their products on the GeM platform.

The initiative is part of JKTPO’s ongoing efforts to promote exports from all districts of Jammu & Kashmir under the Districts as Export Hubs scheme and the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative. Expert-led sessions also covered topics such as export benefits, branding of local products for international markets, export financing options, and credit risk insurance mechanisms.
