DLSA Srinagar holds environmental awareness programme

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 29: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, in collaboration with Kashmir Concern (NGO), organized an Awareness Programme and Plantation Drive under the Pan India Environmental Legal Literacy and Community Protection Initiative “Protect Monday, Secure Tomorrow”.

The programme, as per an official statement, was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness, legal literacy, and community participation in environmental protection at the District Legal Services Authority Srinagar.

The programme was conducted under the Chairmanship of Haq Nawaz Zargar, Chairman, DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Srinagar and under the supervision of  Tabassum Qadir Parray.

 Chairman, Kashmir Concern (NGO), Dr. Touseef Bhat, sensitized the participants on the growing environmental challenges and emphasized the importance of sustainable practices, individual responsibility, and community-driven initiatives for environmental conservation. His address highlighted the legal and social dimensions of environmental protection and encouraged participants to actively contribute towards safeguarding natural resources for future generations.

Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC),  DLSA Srinagar, also addressed the gathering and apprised the participants about the role of Legal Services Authorities in promoting environmental justice and access to legal remedies. She highlighted how legal aid mechanisms can be effectively utilized to address environmental grievances and stressed the importance of awareness at the grassroots level to ensure protection of environmental rights.

The programme witnessed active participation from Staff Members, Legal Aid Defence Counsels, Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Srinagar and volunteers of the collaborating NGO.

 The event concluded with a plantation drive, reaffirming the collective commitment of the participants towards environmental sustainability and the objective of the initiative to protect the environment Monday for a secure tomorrow.
