SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 29: Ministry of MSME, Government of India, through Branch MSME DFO Srinagar, in collaboration with the District Administration Shopian, Monday organised a PM Vishwakarma Marketing and Entrepreneurship Orientation Programme at Mini-Secretariat, Shopian.
The programme was presided over by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr Nasir Ahmed Lone.
Addressing the gathering, the ADDC, as per an official statement, emphasised the importance of empowering local artisans by equipping them with modern marketing and entrepreneurial skills to help their products reach wider markets. He stated that the programme aimed to sensitise artisans, craftsmen and aspiring entrepreneurs about effective marketing strategies, entrepreneurship development and the various benefits available under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme.
Experts from the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) briefed participants on key aspects of advertising, trade promotion, branding and market linkages under the PM Vishwakarma programme. The experts shared practical strategies to enhance product visibility, build strong brand identities and adopt modern marketing tools to improve sales and market outreach.
Assistant Director MSME, Saheel Alaqaband, highlighted the importance of innovation, quality enhancement and entrepreneurship-oriented training for traditional artisans.
The orientation programme primarily aimed to create awareness among traditional artisans and craftsmen about the objectives and benefits of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme with particular focus on equipping artisan entrepreneurs with market-oriented skills to ensure their ventures become competitive and sustainable.
The programme witnessed active participation from Principal Government Polytechnic College Shopian, Manzoor Ahmed Kumar; Superintendent ITI Shopian, Fida Hussain; Functional Manager DIC Shopian, Ishaq Hassan, artisans, officials from various line departments and representatives of MSME.
Participants actively interacted with officials, who addressed their queries on the spot.
